Solar Lighting in Bamenda Gas Stations
Since the liberalization of the oil distribution sector, gas stations have been growing exponentially in the Northwest region of Cameroon. Each new facility construction project is now subject to new regulations and environmental laws.
MRS is an oil company headquartered in Nigeria with a network of 400 stations throughout Africa.
Following an audit and a lighting modernization project, the company made energy bill reduction a priority by focussing on LED lighting and renewable energies. Based on a specific study, the amount of subsequent savings were estimated at 60% of their annual operating budget.
As Bamenda is a western highlands city with high temperatures and two heavy rainy seasons, gas stations located in the outskirts of the city are particularly vulnerable to heavy rain and other climatic hazards.
100 Sunna iSSL Maxi Road streetlights were installed in an MRS gas station in Bamenda, and a hundred more around other MRS stations in Cameroon.
The powerful lighting, which meets European standards, improves visual comfort and replaces advantageously old conventional street lights.
The atypical design of Sunna’s products reinforces MRS gas stations brand identity, and products longevity enable a real return on investment for this company.
Finally, the intelligent lighting program in place allowed the installation of devices with the same settings in all stations : adaptation to weather conditions is automatic, guaranteeing lighting all night even during long rainy seasons.
